Japanese voice actress Atsumi Tanezaki will participate in the new television series adaptation of the cult manga "High School! Kimengumi". She will lend her voice to the character Hasorashi Doremi, a music teacher. The character will be heard from the third episode of the series onwards.

The project is the first anime adaptation of the humorous manga original in almost four decades. The original television series aired between 1985 and 1987. The manga by author Motoei Shinzawa was published in the early 1980s in the magazine "Weekly Shonen Jump" and tells the turbulent stories of a group of high school students. The director is Kazuaki Seki, and the animation is handled by Studio Seven.

The focus of the plot is the "Kimengumi", a group of five eccentric students with literal and often absurdly comical names. The main characters include Ichidō Rei, Reietsu Gō, Shusse Kiyoshi, Daima Jin, and Monohoshi Dai. The series is designed as a slapstick school comedy and gained fame in the 80s also through its theme song sung by the idol group Ushiroyubi Sasaregumi.
