"Ayaka: A Story of Bonds and Wounds" follows Yukito Yanagi, a boy raised in an orphanage who is taken to his birthplace, Ayakashima, by his late father's student, Jingi Sagawa. Ayakashima is a chain of seven mysterious islands shrouded in legends of fire and water dragons. The islands are also inhabited by enigmatic beings known as Mitama. Yukito begins living with three of his father's former students, who maintain peace and harmony on the islands. However, tensions arise between Jingi's classmates Haruaki Karuma and Aka Ibuki, disrupting the islands' harmony and unveiling a hidden truth.

The anime is set to premiere in Japan in July. Alongside the newly introduced characters, the cast includes Yūto Uemura as Yukito Yanagi, Takuma Terashima as Jingi Sagawa, and Yuichiro Umehara as Aka Ibuki. Kousuke Toriumi replaced Takahiro Sakurai as Haruaki Karuma due to unspecified circumstances.

Nobuyoshi Nagayama directs the anime at Studio Blanc, while GoRA oversees and writes the series' scripts. Redjuice provides the original character designs, with Misaki Kaneko finalizing them. Kana Shibue composes the music, and King Records produces the anime. The opening theme, "AYAKASHI," is performed by angela, and saji sings the ending theme, "Flashback."
