Despite their efforts, they fail to keep the creature in check. Jingi reflects on his past and the responsibility he feels toward Yukito and the island. He recalls Yanagi Makoto's final wish to send Yukito to an orphanage on the mainland until he turned 15—a decision Jingi didn't understand at the time but accepted due to his trust in his master.

Jingi reveals that he deciphered a spell from his master's records that would restore the water dragon, albeit at the cost of the caster's life. He had resolved to cast the spell and live a short but joyful life, but after spending time with Yukito and seeing him smile, he began to doubt his decision. Despite his fear of death, Jingi decides to cast the spell to restore Yukito's powers and protect the island.

As the battle with the fire dragon grows more intense, Jingi discloses his plan to Yukito and the others. He explains that he will act as a conduit to connect the water dragon's soul with the ley energy, thus giving his life to restore the water dragon's lost power. Despite his friends' protests, Jingi is determined to sacrifice himself for the greater good.

The episode ends on a cliffhanger as Jingi prepares to cast the spell and urges Yukito to protect the island in his stead.
