A high-profile duo from the anime industry joins forces for an ambitious project: The theatrical film Azwan/AS ONE, directed by Kōbun Shizuno (director of the Detective Conan movies) with character designs by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Neon Genesis Evangelion, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya), will premiere in summer 2025. Serving as a prequel to Square Enix's arcade game Hoshi to Tsubasa no Paradox (2022), the film tells a standalone story designed to appeal to both fans and newcomers.

At the center of the story is Yō, a music-loving high school student whose dream of a music career is weighed down by family conflicts and band disputes. One day, when he hears a mysterious voice calling for help in his mind, he is engulfed by a white light—and drawn into a galactic crisis. Meanwhile, in the Meguriboshi planetary system, robotics engineer Rako fights for her life after falling into a coma while defending against space debris. Through a transcendent connection, Yō and Rako meet as two warring nations negotiate a fragile ceasefire over energy resources.

The film will premiere in Japanese theaters in summer 2025. International release plans have yet to be announced.
