Bandai Namco Filmworks revealed details about a new animation project, "Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance," during the Anime Expo industry panel. Notably, the entire project is being developed using Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5, a detail highlighted in a trailer shown at the event.
The animation is directed by German artist Erasmus Brosdau, with Gavin Hignight onboard as the writer. Australian actress Celia Massingham will voice the main character and portray her through motion capture. Naohiro Ogata is also involved in the project as a producer. Manuel Augusto Dischinger Moura and Kimitoshi Yamane will handle the key roles of character design and mechanical design supervision, respectively. Wilbert Roget II is in charge of music composition.
Hignight confirmed that the episodes of this project are set in the Universal Century timeline, aligning with the original Mobile Suit Gundam story and its later sequels. Brosdau added in a video message that the story will be told from the perspective of the Zeon faction, viewed through the lens of the Zaku mobile suit cockpits. The trailer, which names studios Sunrise and Safe House, states that the plot takes place "eleven months after the Revolutionary War." Hignight cited "Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt" and "Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team" as key influences for the project.
Both Hignight and Massingham attended the panel in person to discuss the project, while Roget II also participated. Ogata would have joined them had he not been occupied with the finale of "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury."
