"JUNK WORLD" is set to hit theaters in 2025. To fund additional equipment and staff for improved efficiency and quality, Hori has launched a crowdfunding campaign. The first campaign successfully raised 13,663,200 yen (approx. 94,000), while the second campaign had gathered 2,808,000 yen (approx. 19,206) by the time of reporting. The new campaign has no deadline, and the project will continue with the collected funds regardless of the total amount donated.
Hori is responsible for all major tasks in the film, including directing, screenplay, character design, editing, music, storyboarding, modeling, and voice acting.
The original film, "JUNK HEAD," released by Anime Limited, depicts a dystopian future where humanity has achieved long lifespans but lost the ability to reproduce. An artificial species, created to counter the labor shortage, eventually rebels and forms its own underground society. When humanity is wiped out by a virus, a single human is sent underground to uncover the secrets of the new species' reproduction, only to discover their monstrous evolution.
