The popular BL web manga series 'Kiss wa Sosa no Ato de' (roughly 'After the Investigation Comes the Kiss') by Suu is being adapted into a live-action drama series. ABC TV has announced a start date of July 26, 2026. The lead roles are played by Shu Watanabe and Ryu Saito, who are appearing together on screen for the first time.

The story is set in a rural police station. The 38-year-old, single detective Heisuke Takoi (Watanabe) is a down-to-earth, friendly officer who is very popular with the public. His 28-year-old colleague Shu Shiono (Saito), on the other hand, always treats him with cool sarcasm. When Takoi is suddenly pressured into matchmaking, events spiral out of control—and in a locked interrogation room, a major incident occurs. This begins a turbulent, humorous love story full of misunderstandings.

Both Watanabe and Saito hail from Akita Prefecture and have a tokusatsu background: Watanabe became known as the leader in 'Kamen Rider OOO' (2010), while Saito played the role of Boon Black in 'Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger' (2024). Both previously won the Junon Super Boy Contest. For Saito, this is his first lead role in a drama series.

Filming is already underway. The series will air as part of ABC TV's Drama-L lineup. It will be broadcast every Sunday at 0:10 AM (Kansai local time), with the first episode starting at 0:35 AM. After the TV broadcast, episodes will be available for streaming on TVer and ABEMA.

The series is directed by Takahiro Ouchi and Yoshifumi Asami, with a screenplay by Koketsu Murata. It is produced by ABC in collaboration with ABC Libra. The manga 'Kiss wa Sosa no Ato de' has sold over 150,000 copies and received a sequel titled 'Kiss wa Sosa no Ato de Again' in May 2026.
