Aniplex has confirmed its plans to produce a new TV anime adaptation of Yana Toboso's manga "Black Butler." This is not a remake but a continuation of the original anime's story, with a scheduled premiere in 2024. The series has already been licensed by Crunchyroll for streaming worldwide, except in Japan.

In the new adaptation, Daisuke Ono and Maaya Sakamoto will return to voice their respective characters—the demon butler Sebastian Michaelis and the British noble Ciel Phantomhive.

The project will be directed by Kenjirō Okada at CloverWorks. Hiroyuki Yoshino, a scriptwriter and supervisor for previous episodes of "Black Butler," will oversee the series' structure. Character design will be handled by Yumi Shimizu, an episode animation director and key animator for the original 2008 "Black Butler" anime. Ryo Kawasaki has been tasked with composing the music.
