Black Butler: Public School Arc - Episode 3

In Episode 3, tensions escalate at Weston College as Ciel Phantomhive tries to navigate the complex social hierarchy dominated by the prefects and their lackeys. Initially, Ciel is misinformed about the timing of an important meeting, leading to a confrontation where he is accused of disrespect toward the prefects, particularly Maurice Cole. Although he is insulted and ostracized, Ciel is determined to clear his name and uncover the truth behind the misleading information that led him into the trap.

Ciel's classmate McMillan sympathizes with him and offers to help him find other students who can confirm the exact time of the meeting. Meanwhile, Prince Soma, an Indian king, unexpectedly arrives on an elephant, disregarding Ciel's instructions to keep their acquaintance a secret to avoid drawing attention.

Ciel attempts to restore their standing among their peers and asks Soma to help gather information about Maurice, hoping to understand and perhaps improve their strained relationship. However, Soma's attempts at reconciliation are bluntly rejected by Maurice, who refuses to engage with Ciel.

The situation escalates when Ciel employs a clever trick to expose Maurice's fraudulent practices. He reveals that Maurice abuses his role as a hall monitor by neglecting his duties and forcing other students to complete tasks for him. This revelation is supported by evidence Ciel meticulously gathered from discarded notes written by Maurice.

The episode reaches its climax when Maurice's misconduct becomes public knowledge, causing him to fall from grace and shattering his trust with his prefect, Redmond. Ciel's careful planning and the support of his classmates ultimately restore his reputation, leading to an unexpected offer from another student, Clayton, who asks Ciel to become his drudge.
