The long-awaited second season of the anime "Black Clover" will air in October 2026 on TV Tokyo and other channels. This was officially announced by the producers on June 15. Director Ayataka Tanemura returns, who was previously responsible for the second half of the first season (episodes 153–170) as well as the film "Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King" (2023). "I will direct again – and we are giving our all in production to show an even stronger story," Tanemura stated in a comment.

Alongside Tanemura, the proven team largely remains intact: Keiichiro Ochi takes over series composition, character design is once again in the hands of Itsuko Takeda, supported by Kumiko Tokunaga for the side characters. Kosei Takahashi is responsible for prop design, and Minako Seki composes the music. Animation production continues as before at Studio Pierrot.

Even before the TV start, the first episode of the new season will be shown as part of a special panel at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles. The panel takes place on July 4, 2026 (local time) at the Peacock Theater. The voice actor of the main character Asta, Gakuto Kajiwara, and director Tanemura are expected to provide exclusive insights and news about the series. The world premiere of the first episode is a fixed part of the program.

To prepare old and new viewers for the return, the production team released a ten-minute recap video on YouTube summarizing the events of the 170-episode first season. The clip was previously shown exclusively at the "Black Clover" exhibition in Tokyo and Osaka and is now available worldwide.

"Black Clover" is based on the manga series of the same name by Yuki Tabata, which was published in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 2015 to August 2023 and later in "Jump GIGA." The story follows the orphan boys Asta and Yuno, who strive for the title of Wizard King in a world full of magic – Asta, despite having no magical abilities himself. The manga ended in May 2026 after more than eleven years and has achieved a worldwide total circulation of over 24.5 million copies. The anime is streamed internationally via Crunchyroll.

The second season picks up from the end of the first season as well as the film and promises to continue the storyline around the Kingdom of Swords and the final arc of the manga.
