Black Clover Anime Film Reveals Title And Trailer

Netflix announced last Thursday via its Twitter account that Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King will be released on the platform on March 31, 2023. Additionally, a new trailer for the film based on Yuki Tabata's manga was unveiled, which will tell a completely new story.



Ayataka Tanemura is directing this film by Studio Pierrot, as he did for much of the Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King TV series. Returning with him are Itsuko Takeda as character designer and Minako Seki as soundtrack composer.

The Black Clover TV anime consists of a total of 170 episodes, which aired on Japanese television between October 2017 and March 2021. Before the series, an OVA was produced by Studio Xebec Zwei. Additionally, Black Clover has an 8-part online comedy series titled Squishy! Black Clover.

Yuuki Tabata has been writing and illustrating the original Black Clover manga since 2015 in the pages of Weekly Shônen Jump magazine. The work has so far been published in 32 collected volumes in Japan.

The story revolves around Asta, a young boy who dreams of becoming the greatest mage in the kingdom. There's just one problem: he can't use any magic at all! Fortunately for Asta, he receives the incredibly rare five-leaf clover grimoire, which grants him the power of anti-magic. Can someone who can't use magic really become the Wizard King? One thing is certain: Asta will never give up!
