With the release of the 38th and final collected volume of "Black Clover" in Japan on August 4, 2026, the circle closes after eleven years, also in book form: Yuki Tabata uses the final volume for a personal message in which the manga artist looks back on the long journey of his successful series – and thanks everyone who accompanied him along the way with moving words.

In his message in the final volume, Tabata describes that over the years he has come to understand that manga is created through the power of many different people. Only through meeting all these people, the artist says, was he able to create "Black Clover" at all. Accordingly, his thanks are wide-ranging: they go out to the editors who supervised the series over the years, to the technical team, to those responsible for the collected volumes, graphic designers, printing companies, distribution and media, as well as to other manga artists and friends. Tabata repeatedly apologizes for the high workload and the difficulties that his production method imposed on those around him; he openly expresses his regret to the editors.

Towards the end, the message becomes private: Tabata thanks his mother for raising him, his wife for her support at his side, and his daughter for being born and allowing him to watch her grow up. Ameri, who watched over him, is also mentioned before the author addresses the readers who have remained loyal to "Black Clover" over all these years.

The farewell volume brings together the final chapters of the series, a 15-page bonus story, and an official companion book with background material that had no place during serialization. Tabata also published a personal family photo in the volume; a specially produced promotional video additionally celebrated the conclusion.

For context: "Black Clover" started in February 2015 in "Weekly Shonen Jump" and developed into one of the most popular shonen titles of its generation. At the end of 2023, the series moved to the quarterly magazine "Jump GIGA" after Tabata could no longer reconcile the growing demands of the weekly rhythm with his personal situation. There, three chapters were published per issue; in May 2026, the series ended with chapter 392. The finale crowns the title-giving rivalry: Asta prevails in the duel against Yuno and becomes the new Wizard King, while the epilogue shows how the characters live about two years after the decisive battle.

However, the story does not end with the manga. The anime adaptation, whose first run ended in 2021 after 170 episodes and is available on demand via Crunchyroll in this country, returns with "Black Clover Second Season": the continuation starts in October 2026 in simulcast on the same streaming service. Studio Pierrot is again producing the series, directed by Ayataka Tanemura, who previously directed the film "Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King"; voice actors Gakuto Kajiwara and Nobunaga Shimazaki are back on board as Asta and Yuno. For the new episodes, Tabata reportedly specifically wished for particularly spectacular fights – the team added scenes for this purpose that do not exist in the manga.

That "Black Clover" will not be forgotten with the final volume is also indicated by the closing line of the message: Tabata announces that he will continue to give everything to ensure that fans enjoy the series.
