The popular smartphone RPG "Blue Archive" by Yostar and Nexon Games is on the verge of making the leap from the small screen to the world of anime. The decision to animate the beloved game was recently reported by the newspaper The Korea Economic Daily. The TV adaptation is set to premiere in Japan as early as next year. What's interesting is that, according to the newspaper, Nexon is considering another anime or film depending on the popularity of the upcoming anime series.

The original story of the game, as described by Nexon, revolves around a city divided into distinct districts, each governed by an academy. The General Student Council (GSC), a body overseeing these academies, has fallen into trouble due to the mysterious disappearance of its president. This has led to numerous problems throughout Kivotos, the city where the game is set. To restore order, the GSC seeks the help of the Federal Investigation Club, or Schale for short. This recently established club was the last to be approved before the president's disappearance. Led by a Sensei, Schale's task is to investigate the increasing incidents in the city.

The game's story incorporates elements of military action, friendship, and love, providing rich material for a compelling anime adaptation. A key feature of the game is that students must carry personal weapons and smartphones with them.

"Blue Archive" was developed by Nexon subsidiary NAT Games, now known as Nexon Games. The game was first released in Japan on February 4, 2021, courtesy of Yostar Japan, before its global release by Nexon on November 8, 2021. The game follows a free-to-play model with optional, randomized in-app purchases.

Yostar Pictures has already begun introducing "Blue Archive" to the anime world. The studio created a short animation for the game's 1.5-year anniversary, released on July 15, 2022. Another short animation, "beautiful day dreamer," followed in December.
