The Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Impure King Arc begins in January 2017 and will air as part of MBS's anime programming block. Koichi Hatsumi (Gangsta.) replaces Tensai Okamura as the director of the anime, and the animation studio has switched to A-1 Pictures. Toshiya Ono (The Perfect Insider) is in charge of series composition, taking over from Ryota Yamaguchi. Keigo Sasaki returns as character designer, and Hiroyuki Sawano once again composes the soundtrack in collaboration with newcomer Kohta Yamamoto.
