The episode begins with Fate Graphite reflecting on his ability "Gluttony" and its limitations. He is interrupted by the disappearance of a girl named Sahara, whom he later rescues from kidnappers. During the rescue, Fate's talking sword, Greed, advises him on combat tactics. After defeating the kidnapper, Fate learns that the man was hired by Hado Vlerick, a member of the holy knight family for whom he once worked.

Fate and Sahara eat together, and Sahara is reunited with her sister. Fate reflects on his past and the nickname "Fay," which his late father always gave him. He starts his new job at the Hart estate, where he meets Haru, the head maid. Lady Roxy Hart, the estate's mistress, tells him that his father was killed by a divine dragon in Galia. Fate feels guilty for not knowing about her loss, but Roxy assures him that they will work together to make the estate a happy place.

Fate's hunger due to his Gluttony grows increasingly severe and troubles him. Greed explains that the ability compels him to seek souls to consume, or else he will lose control. Fate goes hunting to satisfy his hunger and eventually encounters a kobold king. With Greed's help, he defeats the creature and gains a new ability, "Health Regeneration."

Greed then offers to unlock a new form if Fate sacrifices his accumulated stats. Despite the risk, Fate agrees, and Greed transforms into a magical bow. Fate tests the bow on a lurking figure and collects the kobold king's ears as a reward.
