The episode begins with Fate Graphite and Lady Roxy Hart, disguised as "Lexie," conducting a secret inspection of the city. Roxy is investigating rumors of a "wandering monster" that is killing goblins. Fate is worried that his ability, Gluttony, which is responsible for the goblins' deaths, might be discovered.

In the city, they visit a market where Roxy takes an interest in gemstones. Fate uses his ability, Detect, to help her find a gemstone in an ore, but she refuses to buy it. The two encounter a group of rough warriors who recognize Roxy despite her disguise. Roxy seizes the opportunity to express her wish that holy knights should be protectors of the people and not cowards.

Afterward, Fate and Roxy help a lost boy named Leo find his mother. This reminds Fate of a similar experience from his own past, and he wonders who the holy knight was who helped him back then. Roxy offers Leo a place to stay if they can't find his mother, but they eventually reunite the boy with his mother.

Later, they go to a tavern frequented by many warriors. Fate learns that the holy knights, led by the Vlerick family, are planning to hunt the "wandering monster." This troubles Fate, as he fears his secret might be exposed. They also hear that the monster is said to be a lich, a powerful undead creature.

As they leave the bar, they encounter Hado and Memil Vlerick mistreating a young boy. Roxy intervenes and rescues the boy. She confronts Rafael Vlerick for not informing her about the hunt for the wandering monster. Rafael dismisses her concerns, saying she is too emotional due to the recent death of her father.

Back at the Hart estate, Fate gifts Roxy a perception mask that allows her to conceal her appearance. He thanks her for giving him a new life, and Roxy accepts the gift, declaring that she will treasure it.
