In this episode, Fate Graphite awakens in a village house after being knocked unconscious and finds himself in the midst of a crisis. The village is under attack by gargoyles, and Fate confronts the threat with his sword, Greed. He uses his ability, Gluttony, to absorb the powers of the gargoyles and strengthen his own abilities.

Meanwhile, Roxy Hart and her companions set out for the Lanchester region, where they discuss the peculiarities of the local lord. Along the way, they encounter bandits, but Fate, disguised as a corpse, intervenes and showcases his impressive combat skills.

Fate meets Myne, a girl with the same abilities as him, and the two form an alliance. Myne’s weapon, Sloth, proves to be just as much a Deadly Sin as Fate’s Greed. They are bound by their unique abilities, which defy divine laws.

The episode also explores the social structure of Lanchester, hinting at a caste system enforced by the lord, Sir Rudolph. Rudolph’s character is further revealed through his interactions with his subordinates and his obsession with proving his superiority over the Hart family.

Fate continues to struggle with his ability, Gluttony, and learns to control it by resisting the urge to satiate himself completely. He practices this control by battling the Sandmen, a task that puts his resolve to the test.

The episode climaxes when Fate single-handedly defeats a powerful sand golem, earning him the gratitude of the locals and the attention of Sir Rudolph. Rudolph attempts to recruit Fate into his service, but Myne intervenes, leading to a tense standoff.

The episode ends with Fate and Myne planning to leave the town—but not before Fate claims his reward for defeating the sand golem.
