Arthur meets Cynthia Goodsky, director of Xyrus Academy, who tests his magical potential. He demonstrates his abilities in wind, fire, water, and earth elemental magic, after which Cynthia confirms his extraordinary talent. Arthur proposes a deal: he will attend the academy in three years if Cynthia, in return, uses her political power to protect his family.

At home, Arthur reveals to his parents Alice and Reynolds his desire to travel as an adventurer. Alice initially refuses but relents when Arthur promises to return regularly and explains his motives: he wants to explore the world and experience adventures like they did in their youth. The Twinhorns are discussed as potential companions, with Jasmine volunteering.

Meanwhile, Lilia shows progress in her mana meditation, while Eleanor jealously begins her own training. Arthur searches for a weapon at the Helstea Auction House and, with Sylvie’s help, discovers "Dawn’s Ballad"—a mysterious sword that adjusts its weight and shape to Arthur’s body. Vincent gifts it to him after Arthur skillfully emphasizes its apparent worthlessness.

Before his departure, Arthur celebrates his 9th birthday and receives meaningful gifts:
