At the recent MAPPA Stage 2023 event, a new project titled Bucchigiri?! was announced, set to premiere in January.

Helmed by director Hiroko Utsumi, Bucchigiri?! is a collaborative effort between Utsumi, screenwriter Taku Kishimoto, MAPPA, and TOHO. This partnership could result in a rich narrative and visual experience, with each contributor bringing their unique perspectives and skills to the table.

Takahiro Kagami serves a dual role as both character designer and one of the chief animation directors, bridging the gap between the story’s figures and their animated realization. Other key members of the production team include Hiroyuki Saita and Kiminori Itō as sub-character designers and chief animators, Kurumi Suzuki as art director, and Yukiko Kakita as color key artist. Shinnosuke Kato oversees cinematography, while Tomoki Nagasaka handles editing. Michiru Oshima is in charge of music, Hiromi Kikuta for sound, and Dugout for sound production. Animation producer Takahiro Ogawa is also part of the team.

The promotional video and anime teaser shown at the event offered a glimpse into the creative journey the team has undertaken for this project.
