Episode 8 of Bungo Stray Dogs Season 5 titled "Land of the Inhuman Demons (Part 1)" takes place in various locations.

The episode begins with Ranpo instructing Atsushi and Teruko to meet him at Runway 122R. Teruko insists on being carried by Atsushi and makes a remark about dogs riding on cats. The mood shifts when Teruko informs Atsushi that Jono has gone missing. Atsushi senses something off about her story and is suddenly attacked by Teruko. He quickly realizes that she is under some form of control.

Elsewhere, Tetcho gets into a physical confrontation with Kenji. During the fight, Tetcho praises Jono’s misunderstood character and considers whether he should divert from his main mission of finding him. When he hears over the radio that Teruko plans to torture Atsushi, something snaps inside Kenji. His eyes glow, and he gains immense strength, hurling Tetcho out of the airport with tremendous force. A flashback shows Kenji’s heroic deed in the past, where he saved his village from a devastating mudslide, hinting at his latent power.

Back in the present, the injured Tetcho rethinks his actions and asks Kenji to end his life. Kenji refuses, stating that he holds no hostility toward Tetcho. Both agree to search for Jono together but soon collapse from exhaustion. Before resting, they formally introduce themselves to each other.

In Mersault, Sigma observes Dazai’s unsettling calmness. Dazai reveals that he has been secretly communicating with Ango through his heartbeat. When Sigma questions how Dazai receives messages, Dazai challenges him to figure it out. Frustrated, Sigma is even more shocked when Dazai reveals that their plan is not to escape but to kill Fyodor.

They head to the surveillance room, where Sigma finds all the guards incapacitated. Dazai explains that he gained control of the room by using the time-stopping ability of a gifted thief imprisoned in Mersault. As the prison begins to fill with toxic water, Dazai taunts Fyodor and Chuuya, who find themselves trapped.

Meanwhile, Atsushi regains consciousness and finds himself on a stretcher in a hospital room. He had heard Dazai’s voice urging him to wake up. Elsewhere, Aya and Bram take shelter in a cleaning crew’s truck. They discuss the Holy Sword impaling Bram and note that its current wielder, Fukuchi, has gained control over Bram’s powers. The episode ends with Akutagawa discovering their hiding spot, prompting Bram to order Aya to flee.
