Netflix has released the first English-subtitled trailer for the anime adaptation of Kachō Hashimoto's Cagaster of an Insect Cage (Mushikago no Cagaster) manga. The trailer reveals the anime's debut on February 6 on Netflix.
While the anime was originally announced in 2018, with GONZO handling the animation production, the studio has since transferred part of its anime production to the newly established company Studio KAI.
Koichi Chigira (Tokyo Babylon, Full Metal Panic!, Last Exile) is directing the anime. Newly announced staff members include Shuuichi Kouyama (Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo, Black Cat), who is in charge of the series' scripts, Akihiko Yamashita (Howl's Moving Castle, Arrietty), who is designing the characters, and Hitomi Kuroishi (Code Geass, Shangri-La), who is composing the music. Hilchryme performs both the opening song "Be ZERO" and the ending "Okubyō na Ōkami 2019."
Netflix describes the anime:
This manga-based series is set in a post-apocalyptic world where a mysterious disease called "Cagaster" turns people into giant murderous insects. It follows the struggle of a young couple to survive.
