Get ready for the latest quirky addition to your summer anime lineup! "The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today" has finally revealed its cast and crew and will premiere in July as part of the popular Animeism programming block on MBS and TBS.
The heartwarming series follows the journey of the stray black cat Yukichi, voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto, and his owner, office worker Saku Fukuzawa, voiced by Yui Ishikawa. The series' chief director, Susumu Kudo, has brought Katsumasa Yokomine's creative vision to life at animation studio GoHands. The series' scripts are penned by Tamazo Yanagi, known for his work on "Hand Shakers" and "Scar on the Praeter," and the characters were designed by Takayuki Uchida.
Based on the manga of the same name by Hitsuji Yamada, the story follows the unlikely pair as Yukichi, a giant cat who towers over Saku, takes on the role of housekeeper and becomes the pride of the household with his cooking skills. Despite life's ups and downs, Saku can always rely on Yukichi to brighten her day.
The manga was first serialized online in August 2018 in the Suiyōbi no Sirius section of Nico Nico Seiga and was published in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius in October 2021.
