The new short animation Chinpui Eri-sama no Good Luck, based on the work of Fujiko F. Fujio, will be screened at the Fujiko F. Fujio Museum in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, starting May 21.

This fully museum-produced animation was created to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Chinpui. The director is Nobutaka Yoda, who previously worked on the opening sequence of the Doraemon anime series as well as various music and commercial videos. The character design is by Naoyuki Asano, who contributed to Doraemon: Nobita and the New Steel Troops—Winged Angels. The music is composed by Shōshi It from Dos Monos.

The voice cast includes Misaki Kuno as Chinpui, Megumi Han as Eri Kasuga, and Kōichi Yamadera as Wandayu. Both the production team and the cast have shared statements about this new project. Additionally, an exhibition exploring science and magic in Fujiko F. Fujio’s works will be on display at the museum until October 26.

The original Chinpui series debuted in 1985 as a manga in the Fujiko Fujio Land collection (Chūō Kōronsha) and was adapted into an anime in 1989. The story begins with the unexpected arrival of two alien beings, Chinpui and Wandayu, who deliver shocking news to 12-year-old Eri Kasuga: she has been chosen as the future bride of Prince Luluroff from the distant planet Mär. However, Eri is far from thrilled and firmly rejects the idea, while Chinpui and Wandayu do everything they can to persuade her—leading to countless chaotic situations.
