CITY THE ANIMATION by Kyoto-Animation planned for 2025

The popular manga CITY by Keiichi Arawi will be adapted into an anime titled CITY THE ANIMATION and is set to hit theaters in 2025. This will be Kyoto Animation's first new production in six years. The series CITY, originally published from 2016 to 2021 in Morning (Kodansha), is a cheerful comedy about the quirky lives of the residents of an otherwise ordinary town, with the lively character Minami Nagumo in the lead role.

The teaser image for CITY THE ANIMATION has now been revealed, offering a playful and colorful glimpse reminiscent of a toy box. Alongside the visuals, a teaser video has also been released.

The director is Takuya Ishitani, known for works such as Beyond the Boundary and Violet Evergarden. The main cast has also been confirmed: Mikako Komatsu will play the role of Minami Nagumo, Aki Toyosaki will portray Nagumo's friend Niikura, and Yui Ishikawa will embody the eccentric character Wako Izumi.
