Concierge at Hokkyoku Department Store Anime Film: Cast Reveal and Teaser Launch

The official website for the upcoming anime adaptation of Tsuchika Nishimura's manga "The Concierge at Hokkyoku Department Store" recently released a teaser trailer. The teaser not only offers a glimpse into the film's plot but also introduces the cast and additional members of the creative team.



The cast includes Natsumi Kawaida and Takeo Ōtsuka, who will voice the roles of Akino, the film's protagonist, and Eruru, a wandering penguin in the store. The middle row features Nobuo Tobita, Megumi Han, and Natsumi Fujiwara, who will bring to life the characters of Tōdō, Mori, and Iwase, key employees of the department store. The last row introduces Eiji Yoshitomi, Jun Fukuyama, and Yūichi Nakamura, who portray Maruki, the maître d', and Tokiwa, all of whom play important roles in the department store.

Electronic music producer tofubeats contributes to the film's music composition, while Chiyo Morita is responsible for character design and serves as chief animation director. The film is scheduled for release in the fall.

The creative team behind the scenes is led by Yoshimi Itazu, making his directorial debut with this anime film. The screenplay is penned by Satomi Ooshima, while Aniplex handles distribution. Production I.G. is in charge of the film's production.

"The Concierge at Hokkyoku Department Store" revolves around the experiences of a new concierge at a unique department store where the customers are all animals. As a concierge, her job is to understand the unusual clientele and provide them with suitable recommendations.

Nishimura first serialized this captivating manga in November 2016 in Shogakukan's Big Comic Zōkan magazine and concluded it in 2020 with two volumes. The manga was awarded the Excellence Award at the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in 2022.
