The novel source material for "GATE" by author Takumi Yanai is published by AlphaPolis. Since the start of its publication in 2006, the series, consisting of the novels and comic adaptations, has sold over 7.3 million copies in total. A first anime adaptation was already produced in 2015.
Now, the production of a second season of the anime series has been officially confirmed. The character design is by Shigeru Fujita, known for his contributions to works such as "Monster," "Pluto," and "Summer Wars." The animation production is carried out by Studio M2, which was also responsible for "Pluto." Production support is provided by the company Genco.
