Continuation of the anime series The Apothecary Diaries announced

After the finale of the second season on July 4, 2025, it was officially confirmed that the anime series "The Apothecary Diaries" (薬屋のひとりごと) will continue. Simultaneously, the production team released a "Super-Teaser-Preview-Video," offering first glimpses into the new direction of the story. The teaser begins with a scene in which Jinshi (voiced by Ōtsuka Takeo) receives a document from Princess Louhan in a fortress. Alternating with dialogues between Jinshi and the protagonist Maomao (voiced by Yūki Aoi), symbolic imagery such as vast wheat fields and the announcement that "the stage shifts to a new setting" can be seen – a clear indication that the plot will leave the imperial harem and explore new locations.

The second season concluded with Jinshi revealed as the imperial prince who suppresses the rebellion of the "Clan of the Child." For the upcoming continuation, it is expected that the story will be based on novel volume 5 and beyond, focusing on travels to new kingdoms and more complex political intrigues.

Author Natsu Hyūga openly spoke about the increasing pressure, as the first four novels were already adapted into two seasons. For the continuation, she promises an even more exciting plot and is working closely with the anime team to fill any gaps. Yūki Aoi described her sadness after the recordings for the second season but is all the happier about the announcement and hinted at further projects to shorten the waiting time. Ōtsuka Takeo also expressed his joy at continuing the story and is convinced that the upcoming developments will thrill the audience.
