The production of a second season of the fantasy animation series "Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru" (approximately: The Old Man from the Countryside Becomes a Sword Saint) has been officially confirmed. The continuation under the title "Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru II" is scheduled to be released in July 2026.

The plot is based on a popular light novel series originally published on the online platform "Shōsetsuka ni Narō" ("Let's Become Novelists"). The story follows Beryl Gardinant, an elderly swordsmanship instructor who lives a secluded life in a rural village. His quiet life changes abruptly when one of his former students, now the commander of the royal knight order, asks him to come to the capital as a special instructor. There, he is reunited with other former students who have since become influential figures.

The entire series, including manga adaptation and spin-offs, has sold over nine million copies in total. The first season of the anime adaptation aired in spring 2025.
