The production of a second season of the anime series Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs (Japanese title: Otomegē Sekai wa Mobu ni Kibishii Sekai Desu) has been officially announced for the year 2026. The announcement is accompanied by a first teaser visual as well as updated character illustrations that allow a glimpse at the upcoming events.
The direction of the new episodes will once again be handled by Kazuya Miura, who was also responsible for the first season. The screenplay will continue to be written by Kenta Ihara, while Masahiko Suzuki serves as character designer and chief animation director. A large part of the voice cast will also reprise their roles. These include, among others, Kana Ichinose as Olivia, Fairouz Ai as Angelica Rapha Redgrave, and Ayane Sakura as Marie Fou Lafan. Akira Ishida, the voice of the artificial intelligence companion Luxion, is also returning.
The series tells the story of Leon Fou Bartfort, an office worker who is reborn after his death into the world of a dating simulation game where women are in charge. For the second season, a new key visual has been released, showing Leon in an unusual combat outfit protecting Marie during a battle. This visual hint suggests a changed dynamic between the two characters, who often stood as opponents in the first season.
The plot is expected to revolve around a new mission for Leon. He is ordered to join the guard of Saint Marie, which leads him on a journey to an island of elves. This development promises to expand the series' setting beyond the previously established academy environment.
The anime adaptation is based on a successful light novel series written by Yomu Mishima and illustrated by Monda. The original web novel started in 2017 before being published as a printed light novel with thirteen volumes, which was completed in March 2024. In addition to the anime adaptation, there are also manga adaptations of the main story and spin-offs.
