Cuckoo’s Fiancée – Second season with new character and teaser material announced

The popular anime romcom Cuckoo’s Fiancée (jap. Kakkō no Iinazuke) returns in July 2024 with a second season. A teaser visual, preview trailer, and details about the new cast were released to announce it.

At the center of the new season is Ai Mochizuki, voiced by Hinano Miyamoto (Bocchi the Rock!). Ai, a girl who appears at the Umino family’s inn after ten years of absence, stirs up turbulence between protagonist Nagi Umino (voice: Kaito Ishikawa) and his fiancée Erika Amano (Akari Kitō). The teaser visual shows Ai wedging herself between the two, while the trailer hints at her lively personality. Miyamoto describes Ai as „a character who fascinated me more with each chapter“.

Directed by Masakazu Hishida (Fruits Basket), studio Okuruto Noboru adapts the manga original by Miki Yoshikawa (Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches). The ending theme Anata de Nakucha is performed by the idol group 22/7 – a snippet can already be heard in the trailer. Hishida emphasizes: „The season is designed so that newcomers can easily jump in.“

The series follows Nagi and Erika, who were switched as babies and now live in an arranged engagement. The mix of romantic chaos and humorous misunderstandings is the charm of the story.
