The production company Ishimori Pro has released the main trailer for the new anime adaptation of Shotaro Ishinomori's legendary manga "Cyborg 009." The trailer showcases spectacular battle scenes between the established 00 Cyborgs and the newly introduced Cyborg collective Nemesis.

The ending theme has been confirmed as the song "Climal" by the Japanese duo Sukima Switch. The song originally appeared in July 2024 on their album "A museMentally." The band expressed excitement in a statement about being involved in the long-running series. The opening theme is contributed by singer Kyoko with the title "Dare ga Tame ni" ("For Whom") – a reinterpretation of the classic from the 1979 anime TV series, whose lyrics were originally written by Ishinomori himself.

The anime is titled "Cyborg 009 Nemesis" and consists of three 30-minute episodes. The story begins after the nine Cyborgs, led by Joe Shimamura (009), have protected humanity from various threats for over half a century. Now, another Cyborg team named Nemesis appears, led by N009/Graviton (voiced by Yuichi Nakamura), who believes that the original heroes cannot ensure world peace. The trailer shows, among other things, Graviton using his gravity control to corner Joe (Yuki Kaji). Joe responds: "If you want to kill, I will protect with all my might."

The premiere will take place on July 19, 2026, at midnight (JST) on numerous Japanese streaming services, including ABEMA Premium, dAnime Store, U-NEXT, Prime Video, Hulu, and many others. Already on July 18, a preview event will be held at Cinema Shinjuku Wald 9 in Tokyo, where voice actors Yuki Kaji (Joe), Yuichi Nakamura (Graviton), and Saori Hayami (Francoise) are expected on stage. The first 1,000 visitors will receive an exclusive B2 poster.

The animation is produced at Studio Alect under the direction of Hideki Anbo ("Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune"). The screenplay is written by Atsuhiro Tomioka and Charatex, with character design by sanorin. The series ties into the 60th anniversary of the "Cyborg 009" franchise, which was celebrated in July 2024.

Other main voice actors for the 00 numbers include Junko Minagawa (001/Ivan Whisky), Mamoru Miyano (002/Jet Link), Tomokazu Sugita (004/Albert Heinrich), Hiroki Yasumoto (005/Geronimo Jr.), and others. The Nemesis team is voiced by, among others, Rina Hidaka, Yoshimasa Hosoya, Hiroshi Kamiya, and Kikuko Inoue.
