The group around Lloyd is attacked by a mysterious opponent who disrupts their motor nerves and forces them into uncontrolled movements. Ren identifies the attacker as "Civil War", a Blighted, whose body produces infinite spinal threads of mana. These threads can take over the commands of others' brains and also grant him automatic reflexes for defense and counterattacks that are faster than thoughts.

Jade reveals the tragic past of Civil War, who in life was abused as a biological weapon in a civil war and continued to fight even after his death through automatic reflexes. The group realizes that his spinal threads are directly connected to his own nervous system. Through Ren's neurotoxin, they manage to temporarily paralyze him and disable his threads.

Although Tao and Sylpha launch a coordinated attack, Civil War manages to escape at the last moment. It turns out that his body is possessed by a Wraith who sought revenge for his past and now serves a mysterious "Master". This Master equips the Wraith with a divine spell that is meant to sacrifice him in an emergency.

Meanwhile, Babylon confronts the enigmatic Pastor, who turns out to be an overwhelmingly powerful opponent. Lloyd, fascinated by the unique magical properties of Civil War, decides to capture him for further study instead of destroying him. The episode ends with the hint that the true threat and the secrets of the church are still to come.
