Yayoi educates Keitaro about the nature of spirits, explaining that some are unaware they are dead, some are bound to specific locations, and others band together out of fear of a more powerful ghost. Yayoi reveals that she is hunting a particularly powerful spirit she calls the "Specter of Death," which she believes kidnapped her mother.

The episode transitions to spring, where cherry blossoms give way to green leaves. Keitaro and Yayoi prepare for their ghost hunt, guided by Keitaro's ghost magnetism. They decide to visit haunted locations, accompanied by Yayoi's cousin Eiko. Their first destination is the infamous S-Tunnel, known for numerous ghost sightings. While passing through the tunnel, they encounter a spirit, which they manage to capture using a special doll and a straw rope.

Upon returning home, Yayoi realizes the ghost tricked them by making them believe they had caught it. In reality, the ghost was targeting Keitaro. Yayoi and Eiko rush to Keitaro's house, where they find an illusion of Keitaro created by the ghost. After a tense confrontation, Yayoi successfully captures the real ghost.

The next day, Keitaro recalls a nightmare about a female ghost, only to learn from Yayoi that the events in his dream actually happened. Yayoi playfully teases Keitaro, calling him "chicken bait," which highlights their friendship.

The episode ends with Keitaro receiving a call about a new tutoring student.
