The episode picks up where the last one left off, with Keitaro, Yayoi, Eiko, and Ai preparing to leave Ai's haunted apartment. Keitaro senses a malicious entity approaching and rushes to the bathroom, where he has a terrifying encounter with a ghost attempting to manipulate his brainstem. Thanks to Yayoi's protective dolls, he narrowly escapes death.

The group finally leaves the apartment but becomes trapped in an elevator with a malevolent spirit. Yayoi concludes that the ghost ensnares its victims, forcing them to serve it even in death. She devises a plan to capture the ghost and entrusts Keitaro with a powerful doll for protection. Yayoi successfully seals the ghost, and the elevator starts working again.

They return to Ai's apartment, where Yayoi uses the captured ghost to create a deterrent scarecrow meant to repel other spirits. She explains that the ghost will be repeatedly torn apart by other ghosts as a warning. Yayoi promises to return and "devour" the ghost once the other spirits have moved on.

Ai, feeling guilty for dragging everyone into her problems, initially refuses to go with them. However, Keitaro reassures her and promises to protect her from any misfortune she might attract. Touched by his words, Ai decides to stay with the group.

The episode ends with a confrontation between Yayoi, Keitaro, and the god to whom Ai is engaged. The god mocks them for their weakness but is surprised by their resolve. Yayoi and Keitaro vow to protect Ai and everyone else, setting the stage for a showdown with the divine being.
