The casting of the lead role for the anime adaptation of "Darwin-Jiken" has been announced. Atsumi Tanezaki will voice the character Charlie in the adaptation of Shun Umezawa's original work.

The plot deals with the development of a hybrid form between human and chimpanzee. This figure, referred to as a Humanzee, develops into an influential personality who brings about societal changes. The story is said to combine science fiction elements with action scenes.

Additional voice actors have been confirmed for two supporting roles. Kōho Kanbe will portray Lucy Eldred, while Akio Ōtsuka will be heard as Rivera Feuerabend.

A first production-exclusive preview shows the origin story of the hybrid figure. It deals with her differing values and the organizations forming around her. A key visual shows the main characters in confrontational situations.

The direction of the production is handled by Naokatsu Tsuda. The animation is being produced by BERNOX FILMS. The release is scheduled for January 2026.
