In Episode 1135, Kazuha and Ran enjoy a day in Kyoto and try sweets after being invited by a theater patron. They believe their friends Heiji and Kogoro are meeting for a play featuring a detective based on one of them. However, they soon realize both detectives are involved, leading to tension between Heiji and Kogoro over who plays the lead role.

At the meeting, they are introduced to producer Karuo Myoji, screenwriter Inaba Reisuke, and director Kimata Shigeki. The main characters of the play are Mori Daigoro and Hattori Heiichi, based on Kogoro and Heiji. Ooka Momiji, who has a romantic interest in Heiji, attends the meeting and is introduced in the script as Heiji's fiancée. This surprises Heiji and unsettles Kazuha.

The senior police officer Kuroda Hyoe attends the meeting to evaluate the script from a law enforcement perspective. Director Kabumoto Kyosuke excuses himself to take a nap, as his medication makes him drowsy. After some time, the team tries to wake him but finds the door locked. They use a ladder to look through a window and discover Kabumoto lying unresponsive on the floor.

Upon entering the room, they find signs of cyanide poisoning, initially suggesting suicide. However, Conan and Heiji notice inconsistencies, such as the absence of a spoon to administer the poison and a dry bottle cap, indicating the poison wasn’t mixed by Kabumoto himself. They conclude the murder was staged to look like suicide.

Inspector Ayanokoji arrives with the Kyoto police to investigate the case and considers everyone present a suspect. Meanwhile, Kazuha grows concerned about Momiji’s intentions toward Heiji. When she tries to meet him again, Momiji’s butler Iori distracts her, insisting she finish her tour. The episode ends with the ongoing investigation and the characters’ determination to uncover the truth behind Kabumoto’s death.
