The gourmet comedy "Dokagui Daisuki! Mochizuki-san" (freely translated: "I Love Feasting! Mochizuki-san") is being animated as a television series. The production team announced this on August 4, 2026. Studio Passione is responsible for the animation, known for series such as "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (Gou/Sotsu)", "Ishuzoku Reviewers", and "Spice and Wolf". The announcement was preceded by a teaser from TOHO animation, which had already drawn attention to a new production the day before with a mysterious "food terror" video.

The source material comes from Kamome Maruyono and has been serialized in Hakusensha's magazine "Young Animal ZERO" since May 2024, as well as on the platform "Young Animal Web". Originally planned as a bimonthly title, the publisher switched it to a monthly release schedule shortly after its start due to the overwhelming response. At the center is 21-year-old office worker Mikoto Mochizuki, known as Mochizuki-san, who has an insatiable craving for hearty, calorie-rich foods. Her trademark is "Dokagui" – the unrestrained devouring of huge portions – through which she reaches a state of ecstasy called "Itaru", driving her blood sugar levels to dizzying heights. Already the first chapter caused such a stir on social media that the work was described as a "boundary-breaking forbidden gourmet gag".

The success is also reflected in numerous awards: At the "Next Manga Award", the series took eighth place in the web category in 2024 and won the newly introduced Nichirei Prize; in 2025, it followed with sixth place. It was also nominated for the Manga Taisho, landed among the top three in the manga category at the EbookJapan Manga Award 2025, and made it to ninth place on the list for male readers in the guidebook "Kono Manga ga Sugoi!" 2026. By May 2026, according to the publisher, more than 800,000 copies of the manga series had been sold. In addition, collaborations with Seven-Eleven, Curry House CoCo Ichibanya, or an official character café generated extra attention.

To announce the anime adaptation, the author released a specially drawn congratulatory illustration showing Mochizuki-san fiercely devouring karaage, as well as the bonus episode "[TV Anime Production Decided] Tokubetsu-hen". In the gag, the protagonist struggles with herself not to immediately devour everything served for the celebration – very much in the style of the usual Mochizuki-san jokes.

Details on the production are still pending: Cast, staff, and start date of the series have not yet been announced. Those in charge announced that they will bring the opulent food depictions as well as the mix of enjoyment and guilty conscience to life through animation. An official website and a channel on X (formerly Twitter) have already been activated. The fourth compiled volume of the source material will be released on September 29, 2026.
