Chrome takes the lead in the tunnel project and, using Hyoga's combat techniques and Kaseki's craftsmanship, develops a primitive drill ("Dirt-Ripping Loop-Knife") to undermine Xeno's fortress. Taiju transports the device in the lab mobile, accidentally taking along the enemy spy Carlos, whom the team later captures to keep the tunnel plan secret.

Meanwhile, Luna struggles to treat Senku's life-threatening gunshot wound. She diagnoses internal bleeding and performs an emergency transfusion, using her basic medical knowledge. Senku uses the situation to strategically bind Luna to him by seemingly reciprocating her romantic advances—a deception the team later exploits to gather information.

In parallel, Gen deciphers a message from Luna using the Uesugi cipher, which maps out the enemy base. Meanwhile, Xeno's team works on a secret weapon (an aircraft carrier with an onboard plane) expected to be operational in two weeks.
