However, since the canal is likely silted up after millennia, the team initiates a diversion plan: A radar-reflector-equipped, unmanned decoy ship (Kaseki's lab vehicle) heads for the canal, while the main team sails south to rubber trees near Panama.

Meanwhile, rubber production begins: The team taps rubber trees, collects latex, and processes it through vulcanization (kneading with sulfur and vinegar). Under Xeno's technical guidance, tire cores are created, reinforced with wire, and mounted into air-filled tires. In parallel, Kaseki builds six bicycle frames from salvaged ship parts.

Stanley's radar operator Leonard exposes the decoy, prompting Stanley to turn around and catch up with the main team. Upon landing in Ecuador, the ship is dismantled: Wood is used for wood gas generators, metal parts for bicycles. Stanley reaches the shore and deploys special forces. The team flees on the makeshift bicycles through the desert, overcoming two attacks (encirclement and targeted shots at Tsukasa/Hyoga) thanks to smoke screens and Xeno's positioning as a human shield.

The final threat – Stanley's fighter plane – is thwarted by sabotage prepared by Senku: Sugar water in the fuel clogs the engine, as it leads to carbon deposits during combustion. The team escapes into the South American wilderness, now traveling by bicycle to the coordinates of the petrification beam.
