The official website for the 20th Dragon Ball film announced the tentative title Dragon Ball Super on Tuesday. The film is scheduled for December 14.
Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama is writing the script and designing the characters. Tatsuya Nagamine (One Piece Film Z) is directing, Naohiro Shintani is serving as animation director, and Kazuo Ogura is the art director.
Toriyama commented on the film as follows:
This Dragon Ball Super movie is the next story following the currently airing TV series. The story takes place after the climax of the Tournament of Power, where the fate of the universe was at stake, and the brief respite that followed. There will be some previously unwritten details about the Saiyans and Frieza, as well as a long-awaited strong opponent to overcome, and I think it will be a delightful story!
From 2013's Battle of Gods and the last film Resurrection F to the current film, I have carefully written, and I had the pleasure of drawing many designs and such. I am actually as busy as ever, but since I don’t have to serialize anything, I have time to think about the anime, which was no longer in my hands before. So please look forward to it!
By the way, the TV anime is over, but Toyotarō’s popular manga (five volumes out now!) continues.
