The film will open in Japan on December 14. Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama writes the script and designs the characters. Tatsuya Nagamine (One Piece Film Z) directs, Naohiro Shintani serves as animation director, and Kazuo Ogura as art director. Norihito Sumitomo composes the music, Rumiko Nagai is the color designer, Naotake Oota is in charge of special effects, and Kai Makino is the CG director. Toei distributes the film in collaboration with 20th Century Fox.

Earlier this week, Akira Toriyama also provided a new comment for the film:

Do you know who Broly is?

He only appeared in earlier anime films and is a ridiculously strong Saiyan. I was told that I only drew his design; at that time, I was mostly not involved with the anime, so I completely forgot the details.

Even now, Broly seems to be very popular not only in Japan but also overseas, and so the supervisors suggested: "Why don't we make the film about Broly this time?"

Back then, the film was shown to me, and I felt that it could become very interesting depending on the arrangement, and so we immediately began discussing incorporating [Broly] into the Dragon Ball Super series.

In order not to disappoint Broly's fans, I was aware of Broly's past image while also giving him new aspects, and I think he ended up as a fascinating Broly.

Of course, the film won't just show amazing battles—it will also show the fate that awaits Goku, Vegeta, and Broly when they meet; how the Freeza Force is connected; and the history of the Saiyans—the film's content is dramatic and has an enormous scope.

The greatest Saiyan, Broly, appears!

There will be plenty more content for all fans, so look forward to it and wait just a little longer until it's finished!
