The first Trigun anime aired on Japanese television between April and October 1998, comprising a total of 26 episodes. The series was animated by Madhouse under the direction of Satoshi Nishimura. More than ten years later, in 2010, the same studio and director produced an animated film titled Trigun: Badlands Rumble.
Yasuhiro Nightow began publishing the Trigun manga in Tokuma Shoten's Shōnen Captain magazine in February 1995. After three compiled volumes, the magazine was discontinued, and the work was transferred to Shōnen Gahōsha's Young King Ours, where it continued under the title Trigun Maximum. This continuation concluded in 2007 with a total of 14 volumes.
