Long ago, a powerful demon lord ruled over humanity until an equally powerful hero rose to defeat him. To prepare for future threats, the Rosewood Academy was established—a school dedicated to training future heroes.

Today, the Rosewood Academy only accepts the best of the best, and Arnest Flaming is the best among them. The top student of the school, a dutiful girl nicknamed the "Empress of Flames," one day has an irritating encounter with a cheerful boy in the school hallway who seems to match her abilities, even though she’s never seen him before. He introduces himself simply as Blade, and Arnest soon learns that not only has he transferred to the school as a new student, but the king himself has personally asked her to help him adjust to life at the Rosewood Academy.
