The Fire Force manga entered its final story arc in October 2021, and now creator Atsushi Ohkubo stated during his Dark Souls livestream that it will end in a few chapters, with only 2 left to draw. He also confirmed that the manga will conclude in "roughly" two more volumes (making it volume 34).

Kodansha describes the story as follows:

Tokyo is plagued by a deadly phenomenon: spontaneous human combustion! Fortunately, a special team is on hand to extinguish the inferno: The Fire Force! The fire soldiers of Special Fire Cathedral 8 soon receive a unique reinforcement. It’s Shinra, a boy who possesses the ability to run at rocket-like speeds while leaving behind the infamous "Devil’s Footprints" (and destroying his shoes in the process). Can Shinra and his colleagues uncover the source of this bizarre epidemic before the city goes up in flames?

The series was adapted into an anime in 2019, spanning 24 episodes. The sequel aired in 2020 and also ran for 24 episodes.
