John Cho plays the protagonist of the series, Spike Spiegel, while his fellow bounty hunters Jet Black and Faye Valentine are portrayed by Mustafa Shakir and Daniella Pineda. Elena Satine also embodies Julia, and Alex Hassell takes on the role of Vicious.

Netflix describes its Cowboy Bebop series as follows:

COWBOY BEBOP is an action-packed space Western about three bounty hunters, also known as "Cowboys," all trying to leave the past behind. Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) are as different as they are deadly, forming a scrappy, snarky crew ready to take down the most dangerous criminals in the solar system—for the right price. But they can only kick and quip their way out of so many scuffles before their pasts finally catch up with them.
