“Forgotten Battery” anime production by MAPPA, cast announced

The TV anime adaptation of Eiko Mikawa’s "Forgotten Battery" is being produced by MAPPA, as announced at "Jump Festa 2024" on December 17 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba. Alongside this news, a teaser trailer, key visual, additional cast members, and crew details were revealed.

The teaser trailer showcased MAPPA’s animation, highlighting baseball scenes alongside dramatic and comedic elements. The team includes Masato Nakazono as director, Michiko Yokote for series composition, Hitomi Hasegawa for character design, and Tsuyoshi Iida as assistant director.

The anime features the members of the Koteshi High School baseball team, with the main cast already announced. Yohei Azakami plays the powerful and skilled shortstop Aoi Todo, Nobunaga Shimazaki portrays the agile and tactical second baseman Shunpei Chihaya, and Yuki Kaji voices the hardworking and reliable player Taro Yamada. Shoyo Yamaya brings to life the speedy center fielder Kazuki Tsuchiya.

Additional cast members include Tsuyoshi Otsuka as the talented batter Ichiro Kunito from the prestigious Teitoku High School, Mark Ishii as Hiroshi Makida, a first-year pitcher with a strong fastball from Hyouga High School, and Kengo Kawanishi as the versatile left-handed pitcher Akito Kirishima, the ace of Hyouga High School.

"Forgotten Battery" is set to air in April 2024. The story revolves around the "Monster Battery" duo Haruka Kiyofumi and Kei Kaname, who are scouted by the country’s top schools but surprisingly choose the unknown Tokyo Metropolitan Koteshi High School. Adding to the intrigue, Kaname suffers from amnesia and loses all his knowledge of baseball. Haruka Kiyofumi is voiced by Toshiki Masuda, and Kei Kaname by Mamoru Miyano.
