About three years after its initial broadcast, the anime adaptation of "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" celebrates its third anniversary with a special cinema event: On September 26, 2026, the "Pick-up Screening of the Second Season" will be shown in nine Japanese cinemas. Selected episodes of the ten-part second season will be presented in a specially compiled program sequence. At TOHO Cinemas Hibiya in Tokyo, a stage talk with five voice actors will follow the screening; the talk session will be broadcast live to the other eight cinemas simultaneously. The screening starts nationwide at 12:10 PM, and the stage talk at 2:30 PM. In addition to TOHO Cinemas Hibiya, venues include TOHO Cinemas Ikebukuro, TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku, Yokohama Burg13, TOHO Cinemas Susukino, TOHO Cinemas Nagoya Sakae, TOHO Cinemas Umeda, Hiroshima Balt 11, and TOHO Cinemas Lalaport Fukuoka. This event continues the anniversary celebrations of previous years, during which, among other things, the second season and its broadcast date were announced.

The program features defining moments from the second season: the start of the new journey (Episode 29 "Jaa ikou ka", Part A), the widely noted date between Fern and Stark (Episode 31 "Suki na basho", Part B, and Episode 32 "Dareka no kokyou", Part A), as well as the action-packed Revolte arc with Episodes 34 "Toubatsu yousei", 35 "Shingi no Revolte", and 36 "Rippa na saigo". The program is rounded off by Part B of Episode 37 "Himmels Jiden", which focuses on the bond between Frieren and her former hero group, and the season finale Episode 38 "Utsukushii koukei".

On stage, Atsumi Tanezaki (Frieren), Kana Ichinose (Fern), and Chiaki Kobayashi (Stark) are expected. They will be joined by Tarusuke Shingaki (Genau) and Reina Ueda (Methode), who voice central roles in the Revolte arc. Together, the guests will look back on the second season and celebrate the series' third anniversary.

Advance ticket sales for the Tokyo venue are handled via Ticket Pia: From September 4 to 13, seat reservations can be requested through a lottery, with results announced on September 15. The combination of screening and stage talk costs 2,900 yen, while attending one of the live-viewing cinemas costs 2,200 yen. All attendees will also receive a set of two postcards: one featuring the visual specially designed for the third anniversary, which will only be unveiled on the day of the event, and one with an illustration of Macht from the Golden Land, drawn by character designer Maru Takase. This motif had already been distributed at a special anime event at Anime Expo 2026 in July in Los Angeles.

"Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" is based on the manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe, which has been serialized in Shogakukan's "Weekly Shonen Sunday" since April 2020 and has a total circulation of over 35 million copies. The first season, produced by Studio Madhouse, aired from September 2023 to March 2024, and the second season followed from January to March 2026 under the direction of Tomoya Kitagawa. A third season is announced for October 2027; it will tell the arc about the Golden Land ("Ogonkyo-hen"). The anniversary screening at the end of September also serves as a retrospective of the journey so far before the start of the sequel.
