A new global key visual has been presented for the anime adaptation of Watashi wo Tabetai, Hitodenashi. The impressive illustration centers on the character Shiori, depicted in her half-demon form: Notable are her heterochromatic eyes – one blue, the other yellow – a scaly armor covering her body, and clawed hands that unmistakably resemble those of a mermaid. Despite these demonic attributes, Shiori's smile appears almost friendly, creating a deliberate contrast to the character's dark aura.

The story is based on the manga of the same name by Kanae Nawakawa and revolves around the fateful encounter between Hinako, a young woman marked by life, and Shiori, a mermaid who craves Hinako's flesh. Shiori decides to protect Hinako at first to let her "ripen" – only to devour her later. This tense relationship between human and supernatural being forms the foundation of an intense psychological drama.

The voice cast includes Reina Ueda as Hinako, Yui Ishikawa as Shiori, and Fairouz Ai as Miko Yashiro. The animation is produced by Studio RINGS under the overall supervision of Naoyuki Kuzuya and the direction of Yusuke Suzuki. The series is scheduled to premiere in October 2025.
