Japanese director and animator Atsushi Nishigori, known for "DARLING in the FRANXX" and "The IDOLM@STER," has announced the music lineup for his new original anime film "GROTESQQQUE – Gurotesuku –." A total of 35 artists from the fields of singer-songwriters, Vocaloid producers, idols, bands, and composers will contribute to the soundtrack. The list includes, among others, ASCA, Reol, Otoha, Junna, Taku Inoue, Nogizaka46 members Miku Ichinose and Nagi Inoue, as well as actress and singer Gen Hoshino.

The film, produced by Studio CloverWorks, is structured as an omnibus and consists of three self-contained stories, each with its own world: "Aeliens" – an alien girl teams up with a space agency bureaucrat to find friends; "4649 Girl" (Yoroshiku Shojo) – a wild battle royale competition among girls for the title of queen; and "Nocturne: En Cette Nuit Grotesque" – a vampire story in which a pure-blooded vampire and three girls she infected travel through a devastated world.

The project was first announced in July 2024 at Anime Expo in Los Angeles under the working title "Grotesque" and was originally scheduled for a 2025 theatrical release. In July 2025, the film was renamed "GROTESQQQUE" and its release was postponed to 2026. The film is produced by JOEN, a collaboration founded in 2022 between studios CloverWorks and Wit Studio, publisher Shueisha, and Sony subsidiary Aniplex.

As early as May 2026, the first 14 voice actors were introduced, including well-known voices such as Saori Hayami, Rie Kugimiya, Maaya Uchida, and four members of the idol group Nogizaka46. The exact roles of the voice actors and the assignment of music pieces to individual episodes are to be gradually revealed starting July 2026.

"GROTESQQQUE" is expected to premiere in Japanese theaters sometime in 2026. An international release has not yet been confirmed.
