Director Atsushi Nishigori and studio CloverWorks have announced the cast for their new original anime film "GROTESQQQUE -グロテスク-". A total of 14 contributors from the fields of voice acting, acting, music, and idol groups have been revealed. The film, conceived as an OmniBus project, brings together three independent stories set in different worlds. "Aeliens" tells the story of an alien girl searching for friends with a space agency official. "4649 Girl" (pronounced Yoroshiku Shoujo) is a wild battle royale of young "Gyaru P" girls fighting for the crown of a game. "Nocturne: Kono Grotesque na Yoru ni" follows a pure-blooded vampire and three girls infected by her on a journey through a desolate world.

The casting brings together established voice actresses such as Chika Anzai, Kana Ichinose, Maaya Uchida, Rumi Okubo, Rie Kugimiya, Miyu Tomita, Ikumi Hasegawa, and Saori Hayami. Additionally, musician and actor Gen Hoshino and Sara Minami, as well as four members of the idol group Nogizaka46: Miku Ichinose, Nagi Inoue, Nao Tomisato, and Aruno Nakanishi, are joining. Which roles they will take on is not yet known.

Nishigori, known for works such as "The IDOLM@STER", "DARLING in the FRANXX", and as supervisor of the "Shin Evangelion" film, is directing, writing the script, and providing character designs. The film is being produced under the production company JOEN – a joint venture of CloverWorks, Aniplex, Wit Studio, and Shueisha. Originally announced for 2025 at Anime Expo 2024, the release has been postponed to 2026. The theatrical release in Japan is planned for this year.
